How to Add Income and Set Your Payday in Hunter Vault

This is step 3 of the Hunter Vault tutorial. I log an $1,850 paycheck under Salary (income categories are separate from your spending categories), then save Paycheck as a source with a default category and account, so the form fills itself in next payday.

Then I open Payday under Profile. That's where you set how often you get paid, when your budget resets (calendar month or payday cycle) and your expected monthly income. Your pay schedule also sets how long your Safe to Spend window lasts.

Paid features shown: none. Features and pricing can change; check the app for current details.

0:00 Add your first income

In this video you'll log your income and check your pay schedule. On the home screen, the next quest is Add Your First Income. Tap Add Income.

0:11 Enter the amount and category

This is the income form. It works like the expense form, and you can also open it from Quick Log. Start with the amount. My paycheck is $1,850.

Then pick an income category. These are separate from your spending categories. I'll pick Salary.

0:30 Save an income source

Source is where the money came from. Tap it and type a name. I'll type Paycheck.

I get this paycheck twice a month, so I'll tap Save new to keep it.

A saved source can have a default category and account. I'll choose Salary and Bank Account, so next payday the form fills itself in. Then tap Save source.

0:55 Save it and see your income list

The date is today, and Deposit To is the account the money goes into. Tap Add Income.

Your income for the month shows up here, with the total and your top source. Now let's check the pay schedule from setup. Tap Profile.

1:12 Change your pay schedule and budget period

In the Armory section, tap Payday.

This is your income rhythm. It sets how long your Safe to Spend window lasts. During setup I picked twice a month, on the 15th and the 30th. You can change it here anytime.

Budget period is when your budget resets: on the first of each month, or on your payday cycle. I'll keep calendar month.

1:38 Set your expected monthly income

Last, add your expected monthly income. That's two paychecks, so $3,700. It sets your spendable budget for each pay period. Then tap Save Rhythm.

Saved. Now head back to the home screen.

The checklist is now 4 out of 5. The last step is a savings goal, and that's the next video. Links to download Hunter Vault are in the description.
