Hunter Vault Sponsorship Policy
Hunter Vault is an independent budgeting app, and this blog is where we explain money and compare apps. Sometimes a company pays to appear in an article. This page sets out what a sponsor can pay for, what it can't, and how you can tell.
On this guide
// the short version
- Sponsored content is always labelled Sponsored and names the company that paid
- A sponsor never gets a number in our rankings or a say in what we write about other apps
- Every link to a sponsor is marked
rel="sponsored" - One sponsor per article at most, for a fixed term
- Hunter Vault is our own app, so read what we say about it with that in mind
1. Hunter Vault is our app
This blog is written by the people who build Hunter Vault. When Hunter Vault appears in a list or comparison, it's our own product. Nobody pays for its place, and no sponsor can move it.
2. What a sponsor can pay for
- One sponsored entry in an article, shown with a Sponsored label at the top of a list or alongside it.
- Copy the sponsor writes or approves. We edit it for accuracy, clarity and style, and the sponsor sees the final version before it goes live.
3. What a sponsor can't pay for
- A number or position in our ranking. We choose the ranked picks. Sponsored entries sit outside the numbering.
- Changes to what we say about any app, including the sponsor's competitors and Hunter Vault.
- Removing the downsides. Every sponsored entry lists at least one honest limitation.
- Our summaries. Sponsors aren't added to an article's quick answer, quick picks table, key takeaways or FAQ.
- Links that pass search ranking. Every link to a sponsor is marked
rel="sponsored", as Google's spam policies require for paid links. - Space in the Hunter Vault app or our free tools.
4. How to recognise a sponsored entry
- A gold Sponsored label at the top of the entry.
- A line naming who paid and confirming the entry isn't part of the ranking.
- The date we last checked the sponsor's details, such as rates or fees.
- Where the product is available, if it isn't everywhere (for example, US only).
- A note near the top of the article saying it contains a sponsored entry.
This follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance that paid content should be labelled in plain words, where readers will see it. Our guide to disclosing sponsored posts explains those rules.
5. How we check sponsor claims
Before a sponsored entry goes live, we check its claims (rates, fees, limits and features) against the sponsor's own website, and we correct or remove anything we can't confirm. If the sponsor's regulator requires a disclaimer, such as a "not a bank" statement, we include it.
Rates and fees change, so check the provider's site before you sign up. Nothing in a sponsored entry is financial advice.
6. What we don't accept
- Buying or selling game items, in-game currency or accounts for real money
- Gambling, betting and casino products, including skin and loot-box gambling sites
- Payday loans and other high-cost short-term loans
- Debt-relief or credit-repair services that charge upfront fees
- Investment or trading products that promise returns
- Any product whose claims we can't verify
We can turn down any request.
7. Term and limits
- An article carries at most one sponsor.
- Placements run for a fixed term, usually 12 months, and are then removed or renewed.
- If a sponsor's product changes and the entry is no longer accurate, we ask the sponsor for corrected copy. If it can't be corrected, we take the entry down.
8. Affiliate links
The blog doesn't use affiliate links to other companies' products. If that changes, those links will be labelled and marked rel="sponsored" too. Hunter Vault runs its own Creator Program, where creators earn a commission when people buy Hunter Elite with their code.
9. Sponsorship enquiries
To ask about sponsoring an article, email support@huntervault.app with "Sponsorship" in the subject line. Include your company, the article you have in mind and what you'd like to say.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
