How to Set Up Recurring Transactions

I add a $15.99 streaming subscription on my Visa card under Subscriptions, renewing monthly on the 22nd. A rule can repeat daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly or yearly, with an optional end date, and the preview shows the next dates before you save. When the date comes, the app logs it for you.

Then I set up a $100 transfer from my bank account to savings every two weeks, starting today, so the first one posts right away. Pause stops a rule until you tap play, the pencil edits it, and swiping left removes the schedule without touching anything it already logged. Income works the same way for a salary. The free plan includes up to 3 recurring rules.

Paid features shown: none. Recorded on a Premium account. The free plan includes up to 3 recurring rules. Features and pricing can change; check the app for current details.

0:00 Your recurring rules

In this video you'll set up recurring transactions: things that repeat on a schedule, like a subscription, your salary, or moving money into savings. Tap Profile, then Recurring.

0:14 Add a subscription

This is where your recurring rules live. Tap plus to add one.

First pick the type: expense, income or transfer. I'll start with an expense, a streaming subscription. Tap Amount and enter $15.99.

Give it a name, then choose the category and the account it's paid from. I'll use Subscriptions and my Visa card.

0:41 Set the schedule

Under Schedule, set how often it repeats and when it starts. Mine renews monthly, on the 22nd. You can also add an end date.

Scroll down to see the next dates and a summary. Tap Create recurring.

Here's the rule, with its next date. On that day, the app logs the expense for you.

1:04 Save automatically every payday

Now a transfer, to save a little every payday. Tap plus, then Transfer. $100, from my bank account to savings.

I get paid every two weeks, so I'll pick Bi-weekly, starting today. Tap Create recurring.

Because it starts today, the first transfer was made right away. The next one is on the 28th.

1:32 Pause, edit or remove a rule

Taking a break from a subscription? Tap pause, and it stops until you tap play again. The pencil edits a rule. To remove one, swipe it left and tap Dismiss. That removes the schedule, but anything it already logged stays.

1:49 Where recurring transactions show up

In Activity, today's transfer to savings is already there.

Income works the same way, for your salary. On the free plan you can have up to 3 recurring rules. Next in Plan Your Money, we'll track a debt and log payments. Links to download Hunter Vault are in the description.
