Unlike CSV files, PDFs and screenshots are sent over an encrypted connection to be read, and nothing is added until you review it. All six purchases came back with their dates and amounts, and two already had a category. I pick categories for the other four and import, and the $138.94 total matches the statement's purchases. Because they're charged to the card, liabilities go up and net worth goes down by the same amount. If your bank offers a CSV export, that import is free.
Paid features shown: Smart Import for PDFs and screenshots (needs Hunter Pass, uses Hunter Credits; prices aren't shown). The statement is made up. Recorded on a Premium account with Hunter Pass. Features and pricing can change; check the app for current details.

0:00 Open Smart Import
With Hunter Pass, Smart Import can read a PDF statement, or a screenshot from your banking app, and turn it into transactions for you to review. Tap Quick Log, then Smart Import.
0:14 Choose the account: PDF statement or screenshot
Choose the account the statement belongs to. This is my Visa card statement, so I'll pick Visa Card.
Choose PDF Statement. For a screenshot from your banking app, choose Screenshot instead. The steps are the same.
0:30 What gets sent, and picking the file
Unlike CSV files, PDFs and screenshots are sent securely to be read, and nothing is added until you review it. Tap I understand, continue.
Tap to browse, and pick the statement you downloaded from your bank.
0:48 The credit cost, and reading the statement
Each PDF or screenshot import uses 10 Hunter Credits, and you see the cost before anything is sent. Tap Continue.
Hunter Vault reads the statement and finds each transaction. It takes a few seconds, so keep this screen open.
1:05 Review the transactions and set categories
All six purchases were found, with their dates and amounts. Two already have a category.
The other four need one. Tap Review, then pick a category for each. Food and groceries for the bakery, and subscriptions for the streaming service.
Shopping for home goods, and food and groceries again for the noodle house. You can also fix a date or an amount here if anything looks off.
1:31 Import and check the total
Then tap Import.
Six transactions, $138.94, the same total as the statement's purchases. Tap Done.
1:43 See the purchases on your credit card
Open Profile, then Accounts. The purchases were charged to the Visa card, so liabilities went up and net worth went down by the same amount.
That's PDF and screenshot import. If your bank offers a CSV export, that one is free, and the previous video shows how. Links to download Hunter Vault are in the description.
