How to Import Bank Transactions From a CSV File

If your bank lets you download your transactions as a CSV file, Smart Import brings them in without linking your bank. CSV import is free and runs entirely on your phone, so the file is never uploaded. Open Quick Log, tap Smart Import, choose the account the transactions belong to, then CSV Export, and pick the file. My demo file has a date, a description and an amount for each row.

1:57 Published Watch on YouTube

Hunter Vault reads the dates, descriptions and amounts for you. Negative amounts become expenses, positive ones become income, and rows marked Ready already have a category. The three rows under Review need a category before they can be imported, and you can also change any row's date, description, amount or type. After the import, all seven transactions are in the bank account. Importing the same file again is safe: rows you already have are marked Already imported, so nothing is added twice.

Paid features shown: none (CSV import is free). The demo file is made-up data. Recorded on a Premium account. Features and pricing can change; check the app for current details.
