Short answer (checked November 8, 2026). Trade runs are live in Early Access, and Steam confirms trading runs plus defending trade routes. But no currency names, no payout rates, no premium currency, and no labor-points system have been confirmed. There is no cash shop in Early Access. Below is everything that is known, each line sourced.
How the economy works (what's confirmed)
One system is confirmed: trade runs. Steam lists trading runs and defending trade routes as part of Early Access. Beyond that, nothing official is public: no pack recipes, no payout rates, no theft rules, and not even the name of the base currency.
That is why the Trade Run Calculator asks for your numbers instead of shipping with game data. Run a route, note what the packs cost, what they paid and how often the cargo is lost, then let the calculator work out the expected profit per hour and the loss chance where the route stops paying.
Why we don't publish a gold guide
Players coming from the original game expect gold, because that was its base currency. But Chronicles is a separate game, and XLGAMES hasn't confirmed the name. Publishing a "gold guide" now would mean inventing drop rates, prices and farming spots — exactly the kind of page this site doesn't make.
The original ArcheAge was free-to-play with an optional subscription. Its cash shop sold labor-point potions and protection items, and APEX, a tradeable item bought with real money, fuelled real-money gold trading. Coverage of the Chronicles announcement describes how that pay-to-win influence grew over time and hurt the game's reputation.
That history is about the original game, not Chronicles. Source: MeinMMO (July 2026). The moment Chronicles confirms its own currency names or systems, they'll get full guides here with sources.
Turning earnings into a plan
Once you know what a route pays you, two tools keep the numbers honest:
- In-game earnings go in the Trade Run Calculator, which compares routes per hour and prices in the risk of losing cargo.
- Real money — the $29.99 box price, PC upgrades, and any future store spending — belongs in the separate Gaming Spending Calculator, never mixed with in-game balances.
The price tracker keeps the box price, store status and pay-to-win facts with their sources.
When this page changes
We re-check every line, and update the review date, when any of these happens: a currency name is confirmed, official trade payouts are published, a premium currency is announced, labor points are confirmed or ruled out, or a store opens. Official sources come first. Press reports are labelled as reports, and anything that only appears on fan wikis or reseller sites isn't used.
