The breakdown starts with what's left in your budget this month, then sets money aside for bills, debt payments, savings goals and a small buffer. What's left is what you can spend until your next payday. After I mark rent as paid, it shows $637.50.
Paid features shown: none. Recorded on a Premium account. Features and pricing can change; check the app for current details.

0:00 What Safe to Spend needs
In this video you'll unlock Safe to Spend, the number at the top of your home screen. Right now that card shows net worth instead. Safe to Spend needs four things: an account, your income, your pay schedule, and your bills. We've done the first three, so let's add a bill. Tap Profile.
In the Armory, tap Bills.
0:25 Add your first bill
No bills yet. Tap Add First Bill.
Pick a category, then name the bill. I'll add my rent.
The due day is already the first of the month, which is right for rent. Then choose the spending category the payment goes to when you pay it in the app. I'll choose Housing. Tap Continue.
Enter the amount, $1,200, and tap Set Amount.
Rent is now in your monthly obligations. Let's see what that did to Safe to Spend. Tap Home.
1:03 Why Safe to Spend can show $0
Safe to Spend is unlocked, but it says zero. Rent was due on the first, and it isn't marked paid yet, so Hunter Vault is holding the $1,200 for it. Tap Reserved to see the math.
1:17 The Safe to Spend breakdown
It starts with what's left in your budget this month. Then it sets aside money for bills, debt payments, savings goals, and a small buffer. Whatever is left is what you can spend until your next payday.
1:31 Mark a bill as paid
I already paid rent this month, so let's mark it. Go to Profile, then Bills.
Tap the check next to Rent. Pay Bill logs the payment as an expense from your account. I paid outside the app, so I'll tap Mark as paid instead.
Rent now shows paid this month, and it resets automatically next month. Back to Home.
1:54 Your Safe to Spend until payday
Now Safe to Spend is $637.50. That's my remaining budget of $857.50, minus $220 set aside for my card payment, my goals, and a buffer. The label shows how many days you're covered. Mine says 3, because my next payday is on the 15th.
Safe to Spend updates every time you log spending or income, so check it before you buy something. Next, we'll look at quests, XP, and ranks. Links to download Hunter Vault are in the description.
